What do you think of when I say security? I would think that the majority of people would immediately envision a lock or a uniformed officer. In the computer industry, security revolves around hardware and software. Everyone should have a firewall, antivirus and a really good password solution which is also extremely crucial.

Today, I posted on Facebook the necessity of having complicated passwords. All passwords should be alpha numeric using uppercase and lowercase characters; passwords should have at least two symbols and be no less than 8 characters in length. To complicate matters even more, you must be sure that no part of your password can be found in any dictionary which means that the characters must appear to be random. Sounds complicated and time consuming? Well, it would be if it weren't for password managers which store all of your passwords for you. I personally recommend Lastpass located here.

Lastpass will not only store your passwords and encrypt them, it will also generate new ones for you. Its generator has a slider which can create up to a 100-digit password and you can configure it so that it uses symbols or not; and/or, the password generator can make your password pronounceable or not. You only need to write down or memorize your master password which gives access to all of the rest of the passwords. Lastpass can also scan your passwords and determine whether they are weak or repeated or are simply no good for whatever reason.

Seems like a lot to do when it comes to securing your passwords but it really isn't. You see, the mark of a good security program requires very little of its operator because it does all of the work (generating, encrypting, form filling, memorizing, etc.).

Eternal security is similar except it requires nothing at all on the part of those who have been redeemed by our Lord, Jesus Christ (He paid the price required for sin, which is death; but, having never sinned, death had no hold on Him; and, on the third day, He rose again proving He is God. Now, His necessary sacrifice is before an eternally Holy God for all eternity. He sits in bodily human form at the right hand of the Father in heaven making intercession for us. And, He never stops.) Romans 8:1, There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

God’s Everlasting Love, Romans 8: 31-39

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Now that's eternal security!

May His peace which transcends all understanding guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.

God bless you,
Richard Cunha
