How to Repair Permissions in XP Professional
1. Open the "Start" menu and press the "Run" button. 2. Input "cmd" in the textbox that appears and press "Enter." A DOS window will appear onscreen. 3. Type in the following command verbatim (cut and copy the command if need be to get it exactly right):
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose
This will reset permissions, after which you will see a "Task is Complete" message displayed onscreen. |
